I have TV writing credits on Home and Away, The Bureau of Magical Things, Magical Tales, Totally Wild, Puzzle Play and In The Box. My film scripts have won awards in the U.S., been optioned by producers, and received development funding from Screen Australia.

While studying for my second degree (majoring in Media and Cultural Studies) at University of Queensland, I started writing film reviews for the uni newspaper. That led to my becoming the TV reviewer at The Courier-Mail (Brisbane's daily newspaper). It was then that I started writing screenplays.

Film - The second feature film script that I wrote (Still Waters) was shortlisted for Film Queensland's New Writers' Scheme then went on to be nominated for the Monte Miller Award for an unproduced script at the AWGIES (Australian Writers' Guild Awards).

Another was nominated the following year (My RomanticComedy), and after I reworked it a few years later, it went on to win first prize in the Romantic Comedy screenwriting category at WorldFest Independent Film Festival, Houston, Texas. It also won the John Dean Award for Creative Writing across all categories (over 500 scripts in total) and was optioned in the U.S.

Five of my film scripts have now been optioned by producers (The January Club, Jasmine in the City, My Romantic Comedy, Painted Love Letters) and I've received three rounds of script development funding from the AFC (now Screen Australia).

My holiday romantic comedy film script, Sandra Claus, gained me management in the U.S. with the major talent agency, 3 Arts Entertainment.

I've also been contracted to write screenplays for Steve Kearney of Mini Studios, Steve Durbin of Forest Grove Productions, Lance Reynolds of Noosa Films, and to rewrite and co-write two screenplays for Els Van Poppel.

I currently have two feature films in development - The January Club and Sandra Claus (see my home page for the latest details). I’ve also partnered up with Korean-Australian writer/director/producer, Lark Lee, of Lark Lee Films on our TV series, The Fish Chime. We’re excited about its possibilities!

TV - I wrote four episodes of The Bureau of Magical Things, a new children's TV show from Jonathan Shiff Productions which is airing on Channel Eleven and tenplay. I've also written episodes for the much loved Channel 7 soapie, Home and Away, the children's magazine-style TV series, Totally Wild, and preschoolers' shows, Magical TalesIn The Box and Puzzle Play. I'm very excited to have my own children's TV series, Clementine Parkes, in development and just waiting for the right producer to help me bring it to life!

My writing partner, Charlie Strachan, and I are looking forward to working more on our TV series, Oleander, which received early concept development funding from Screen Queensland. The series is based on a feature film script by myself and Els Van Poppel.

Corporate and Government - I've been a consultant, script editor and co-writer of the scripts for an interactive drug awareness campaign for Queensland Health called AfterMath - a project conceived by Brisbane-based BAFTA Award winning and Emmy nominated digital media designer and director Thom Saunders (formerly of Hoodlum Interactive) through his company, ZONE4 Digital Media Pty Ltd. The project was delivered via kiosks at universities, with each scenario chosen by the player offering a random outcome (from a choice of four) for whether the player accepts or rejects the offer of drugs.

Short film - In 2002, I had my short film, The White Nightie, produced by Victor G. Abbott of Media Storm Films. Directed by Pene Patrick, the film won awards and was a finalist in several Australian short film festivals. It also played on QANTAS in-flight entertainment on international flights for several months.

I've had very positive feedback about my scriptwriting work and I always deliver on deadline. I love working on established TV shows and can follow formats and script editing directions with very satisfactory results.People keep coming back for more and if you'd like me to write or edit scripts for your TV show, film, corporate or educational DVD or other media, I'm sure you'll come back for more too.

Price Guide:

The Australian Writers' Guild has set minimum rates for scriptwriting. Depending on what you required me to do and on your own position, I would consider each individual job's requirements and quote in advance.
